SIT-Summer Institute in Taiwan
Academic Exchange & Cultural Experience in Taiwan
SIT Goal

There are two parts of the SIT program: group activities (the first week orientation at NTHU, Hsinchu) and individual research activities (at your host research institute). Research students will be picked up by NTHU SIT staff upon their arrival and begin their first week of the program.

The first part of the program will mainly be focusing on language acquisition, workshops, and culture introduction. In addition, NTHU helps providing assistance in transportation, lodging and dining during the first week. The group activities will conclude in the Taipei main office of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) at the end of the first week and NTHU SIT staff will contact each individual laboratory (their host institute) to pick up their honored guests to begin their individual research activities.

If the research institute is farther away from Taipei, the staff will help the participants book train tickets or Taiwan High Speed Rail tickets and accompany them to board their trains and contact their host institute to pick them up after their arrival.

Starting from the 2nd week to the 8th week, the host institute of SIT participants will be responsible for assisting their guests’ individual activities and daily need, including lodging. Nevertheless, students should pay their daily by using the MOST assistance fund (41000NTD).
